About the Celtic Trinity Knot Tree of Life
The history of the Celts is an oral one and the exact meaning of their artwork is unsure. However scholars surmise that all Celtic knots, whether square, triangle or round, symbolize “no beginning, no ending... infinity,” the intertwining of this world and the spiritual world, continuity of life paths, mingling of relationships, and the binding together of all. The Pagan 3-point knot called Triquetra represents the triple goddess, Epona. The Triknot or Trinity knot is a symbol of the family unit; and the three stages of a woman's life: maiden, mother, crone.
Early Christians adopted it as a symbol of their three-in-one God or the “Trinity” of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, hence the Christian name “Trinity Knot.” Ireland’s Crann bethadh and Scotland’s Yggdrasil, Gaelic names for sacred “Tree of Life,” connect the wear with “Mother Earth” and the spiritual world.
